BioMarin's Galli East Expansion is a 21,800 sf addition to their Marin County commercial manufacturing facility. A portion of the existing high-bay warehouse roof was removed to allow space for this structurally independent ground-up three-story addition. Built on an aggressive fast-track schedule, the adjacent manufacturing facility remained on-line throughout.
The project includes several large process tanks with access platforms and stacked bin storage for buffer and media prep, a high-bay cell culture space designed for future scale-up, a glasswash suite, multiple cold storage rooms, and filtration, purification, and formulation suites. HVAC systems to support the classified clean spaces fill the new roof.
Space in the adjacent building was renovated to provide gowning rooms, service areas, and an H-occupancy space for CIP and waste neutralization systems. Site work includes new utility yard areas for bulk chemical storage, electrical upgrades, waste storage, and fire protection enhancements.
